Thoughts From a Hot Night

I hover over my books
Half awake, tired at the thought
Of the exams, to be written.
I look out, its dark;
The moon, vacationing somewhere
In the celestial sea; has
Brought upon us, all pervading darkness.
I look up, to the skies
The stars, those precious stones
Locked up, out of view
By the thick clouds.
A breeze blows; its heat stuns me
I look around, at nature
But, Hah! I see a jungle
Not of trees, but concrete.
I return to my books
A million thoughts trouble me
There is no beauty in nature
And I see the darkness
Once more, before closing my eyes.
